Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr.Cao Duc Phat, said the national fisheries development strategy from 2020 to 2030 will be completed in the near future. Currently, a board is given the responsibility to draft this plan. The board is led by the Department of Fisheries Resources Exploitation and Protection, and includes the Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning, Department of Aquaculture, Marine Resource Research Institute. Mr.Nguyen Huu Dung, Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers is a member in the board.

State media reported Phat said this plan not particularly focuses on fisheries development but is also a combination of various development plan for Vietnam’s agriculture and rural development programs. He expressed the hope this strategy will keep up with international fisheries development progress, and urged the drafting board to submit a complete plan by December this year.
