According to Vietnam General Custom, in seven first months of the year, Vietnam exported 78,046 MT of seafood to Japan, valued at USD 450 million. In comparison with the same period of last year, these figures increased 29% in volume and 21% in value.
Japan is the biggest importer of the Vietnamese frozen shrimp this year. The country consumed 29,694 MT of shrimp, and paid USD 253 million for Vietnam. Shrimp export to the market takes 32.3% of the total exports.
Vietnam is the third biggest cuttlefish supplier to Japan, following Morocco and Thai Lan. In the first six month of the year, Vietnam shipped 360 MT of cuttlefish to the country, Morocco with 917 MT, Thai Lan 500 MT.
Tuna export of Vietnam to Japan also shows strong growth in 2008 with the growth rate of 45.7%. The value of tuna export reached USD 15.4 million. |
